Reptile Quarantine

San Diego Zoo

San Diego, California

A new 800 square foot stand alone quarantine building. As new animals are brought to the zoo, they need to be quarantined to make sure that they do not carry any dangerous viral infections or parasites. The new building includes special mechanical ventilation, heating and cooling systems to deal with reptiles from all over the world. Details include wipe mats for shoes at each doorway, a built-in concrete pool for young reptiles, and ‘snakeproof’ door sills. The facility is designed to be easily cleaned, and adaptable to many climate zones and different animal’s schedules.
